Apart from Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul is present as a wicketkeeper in the ODI team. So far, the BCCI has not announced the replacement of the injured Rishabh Pant. Speculations are rife that Ishan Kishan could replace him, who has been selected as an alternate wicketkeeper in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2026.
On Saturday, Rishabh Pant practiced batting for a long time. The throwdown specialists were making him practice batting, when a ball went to his upper part while defending on the front foot. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and support staff came to the field to know Pant's condition. Rishabh Pant walked out of the BCA Stadium after initial treatment by the medical team. Meanwhile, Indian ODI and Test team captain Shubman Gill was seen talking to Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar for a long time.
Rishabh Pant was last seen playing an ODI against Sri Lanka in July 2024. He was part of the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, but he did not get a chance to play a single match. He recently captained the Delhi team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. He also scored 2 half-centuries in this domestic List A tournament of India.
On the other hand, when Mohammed Siraj was practicing batting, he was having trouble making shots. He got help from Rohit Sharma to improve his batting.
