Former Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit committed suicide by shooting himself on Monday, Russia's TASS news agency reported. Russian President Vladimir Putin fired him a few hours ago without giving any reason. He was accused of corruption. Officials said the starovite was found dead in Odintsovo near Moscow. At present, full details of the incident are being collected. Russia's investigative committee said starovoite's body was found in his car. Starovoit has been made the temporary minister of transport by former governor, Andre Nikitin. Before becoming minister of transport, Starovoit was governor of the Kursk region bordering Ukraine for five years. According to Russian media reports, the reason for the dismissal of Starovoit is believed to be the Ukrainian drone attack on July 5-6. Due to the Ukrainian drone attack, about 300 flights were canceled across the country. Ukrainian attacks led to an explosion in a tanker at Russia's Ust-Luga port. The blast caused an ammonia leakage on July 6, which aggravated the problems. At the same time, Starovoit's dismissal is also being linked to a corruption case in Kursk. A few months after Starovoit left the post of governor in Kursk, Ukrainian troops attacked there, the largest foreign invasion in Russia since World War II. At the same time, Starovoitt was accused of corruption. Kursk's new governor, Alexei Smirnov, was charged in April with misappropriation of money. Russia attacked Ukraine with 550 missiles and drones On the morning of July 4, Russia attacked Ukraine with 500 missiles and drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that 270 of these missiles were shot down in the air. Apart from this, there were also 330 Shahed drones. Of these, 208 drones were jammed by electronic systems. These drones are made in Iran. The biggest target of the attack was the capital Kiev. Apart from Kiev, damage was also reported in Dinipro, Sumi, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and surrounding areas. Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said 23 people were injured in the attack. Of these, 14 people had to be admitted to the hospital. Apartment buildings, shops, a school, a hospital, a railway line and other important structures were damaged in several areas of Kiev in the attack. Explosions were heard from 10 p.m. on July 3 and continued until the morning of July 4, the Kiev Independent reported. In retaliation, Ukraine also carried out drone attacks on several Russian locations on July 5-6, targeting a Russian port. Ukraine destroys 41 Russian fighter jets In June, Ukraine destroyed 41 Russian fighter jets. Ukraine targeted Olanya Air Base in Murmansk, Belaya Air Base in Irkutsk, Ivanovo Air Base in Ivanovo and Amur and Diagilevo Air Base in Russia, according to a report in Ukrainian website Kiev Independent. Russia's Belaya airbase is more than 4,000 km from the Ukrainian border. It is located in the Siberian region of Russia. According to the report, ukraine's security agency (SBU) carried out the attack, in which fpv (first-person-view) drone was used. It targeted strategic bombers such as the A-50, TU-95 and TU-22. A SBU official said they carried out the attack in self-defence, as these Russian aircraft often drop bombs at Ukrainian cities. Russia has confirmed the attack. According to initial estimates, the loss could be worth USD 2 billion (over Rs 17,000 crore).
