Shankersinh Vaghela controversial statement: Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela, who has always been in the limelight for his statements in Gujarat politics, has heated up the political atmosphere after his remarks on the Savarna community. When he was criticized all around after his controversial statement about the three major communities, Vaghela has categorically refused to back down. He has said in an aggressive manner that he is not against any society, but there is no question of apologizing on this issue in his life
'I have spoken on the injury of Danka'
Defending his statement, Shankersinh Vaghela launched a scathing attack on the BJP. He said, "My statement yesterday has created a big bounce for no reason. BJP people are behind me without understanding the true meaning of my statement." Vaghela asserted, "Whatever I have said, I have spoken on the edge of the sword. My statement was actually in reference to the anti-reservation government, because the present BJP government does not like people with reservations at all. The society that did the very difficult job of picking up dirt years ago, the reservation that is being given today is their compensation in the true sense."
What was the whole controversy?
Shankersinh Vaghela had openly challenged an event in the presence of Congress leader Amit Chavda, saying, "If people from Patel, Bania or Brahmin community pick up garbage, I will give them Rs 50,000 in cash." Along with this, he also justified the reservation system by referring to the pathetic condition of the tribal society and the injustice done to them for centuries><
Brahmo Samaj's anger: 'If Bapu picks up the dirt, we will give 5 lakhs'
After this statement ofShankersinh, there has been a lot of outrage in the entire Brahmo Samaj. State Brahmo Samaj convener Yagnesh Dave said, "Bapu's personality has always been controversial. There is a legal ban on the practice of manual scavenging in our country. Shankersinh should start from his own house instead of teaching others. If Shankersinh Vaghela is ready to pick up the dirt of my house, I will give him Rs 5 lakh every month."
Hiren Joshi, another prominent leader of theBrahmo Samaj, also strongly condemned the statement. He alleged that Vaghela makes statements that create class warfare between castes only to stay in the media limelight. Leaders who appear only during elections make such statements. If they do not withdraw their statement and apologise publicly, then leaders of all communities will come together and launch a fierce agitation
