Congress TMC Preparation For Merger: After facing a crushing defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is now on the verge of extinction. Not only 60 MLAs have parted ways with Mamata Banerjee, but more than 20 MPs have also rebelled. Sonia Gandhi had offered a merger to Mamata Banerjee, which she has agreed to accept. According to sources, Mamata Banerjee is ready to merge the Trinamool with the Congress, but her nephew Abhishek Banerjee has asked for the post of Mallikarjun Kharge in a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. He has said that the Congress should send Mamata Banerjee to the Rajya Sabha and also give her the post of Leader of Opposition there. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is currently the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
