10-year-old boy drowns in water: 3 including two siblings die in Un Patia

Incessant and extremely heavy rains have been lashing Surat city and district for the last two days, including South Gujarat. Two heart-wrenching tragedies have come to light from Surat city amid the situation of creeks and waterlogging. Three promising youths, including a 10-year-old boy, were swept away by the strong currents of flood waters in Pandesara and Un Patia areas of Surat. This celestial disaster has shattered the nests of two smiling families, sending a wave of grief through the entire diocese. Incident-1: An innocent man who came out of his house in Pandesara was swept away in the flood after the lights went out at night. Anubhav Puri, a 10-year-old son of Dharmendra Kumar, a resident of Nagsen Nagar in Pandesara and a native of Haryana, was sleeping with his family on the night of July 7 when he lost his power amid heavy rains. The experience was a little mentally disturbing. Around 2 to 3 am, without the knowledge of his family, he stepped out of the house and started playing in 4 to 5 feet of water that was like a waistline on the road. During this time he was swept away in the stream due to high water flow on the road and died due to drowning. After an hour-and-a-half search, the body was found in the corner. When the child's mother woke up at around four and half in the morning, the family started searching for her in the heavy rain as her son was not found at home. His father Dharmendra Kumar, who earns his livelihood by driving, struggled for one to one-and-a-half hours in the surrounding areas amidst torrential rains and flood waters. Later, the body of the innocent Anubhav was found in a submerged state in a corner of Nagsen Nagar around five in the morning. The parents broke down on the spot after seeing the body of their beloved son. Incident 2: Two young cousins were swept away in the darkness of the night in Wool Patia On the other hand, a similar heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Un Patiya area of Surat, where two young brothers died prematurely due to being swept away by the heavy current and strong currents of water overflowing on the road. The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Haroon and 22-year-old Farooq. Last night's downpour caused knee-deep waterlogging in Un Patia area and the flow was very intense. In the meantime, the two brothers had gone out for some important work, but the current of water was so strong that both the brothers were suddenly swept away in it and disappeared in the darkness of the night. As the brothers did not return home till late in the night, the family members and locals searched the whole night amidst heavy rains, but there was no trace of them in the night as it was pitch dark. One brother's body was found trapped under a tree, the other under the car Heart-wrenching scenes ensued early this morning when the water started receding. During the search operation, the body of one brother was found floating in the water on the road, while the body of the other brother was found trapped under a car parked on the roadside after being dragged in the strong current. The parents were shocked to see the bodies of their two young sons, aged 20 and 22, together. Locals pulled out the body as they did not get the help of the administration Mohammed Zafir Alam, a relative of the deceased, said, "After the two brothers were swept away by the strong currents, they sought help, but there was no help from anywhere. There was no help from the administration to find or extricate the body. In the morning, we, the locals, got together and pulled out the bodies of the two brothers after a lot of effort," he said. With the help of the public, the police seized all the bodies, conducted legal inquest proceedings and shifted them to the New Civil Hospital in Surat for postmortem. While this natural disaster has wreaked havoc in Surat, serious questions are also being raised about the pre-monsoon functioning and disaster management of the local administration.
