On the one-and-a-half-kilometre stretch from Kharwar Nagar to Udhna Tri Road in Surat city, the car hit five vehicles one after the other, including rickshaws, eco-bikes and mopeds, and threw them into the air. Two persons, including a woman BJP worker, were seriously injured in the accident. Injured BJP worker Deepika Khunt suffered a serious fracture in her leg and was rushed to a private hospital in Vesu for treatment, while another seriously injured person has been admitted to the New Civil Hospital for further treatment. Locals pulled the driver out of the car and gave him methipak.
For one and a half kilometers, the collision of the car was so severe that along with the victim vehicles, the front part of the car that caused the accident was also crushed. According to eyewitnesses, the man driving the car was completely drunk and lost consciousness and caused the serious accident. The arrested accused has been identified as 30-year-old Neeraj Tiwari. Investigations have revealed that Neeraj lives at Ashirwad Palace in Keshav Nagar in Bhatar area of Surat and works as a security guard. He lost control of the steering wheel in a drunken state and put the lives of innocent motorists and pedestrians at great risk. Police take legal action
As soon as the police control room was informed about the horrific accident, a convoy of local police rushed to the spot. The police brought the situation under control and arranged for the injured to be rushed to the hospital immediately and the driver was released from the clutches of the crowd and taken into custody. Upon verifying the registration number of the vehicle, it was officially revealed that the car was in the name of Mayank Bihari Lal Chhaparia. The police have registered a legal case against the accused, Neeraj Tiwari, conducted a medical examination to confirm whether he was in an inebriated state and started further investigation. Surgery is not possible as the lower part of the waist is seriously damaged.
BJP woman worker Deepika Khunt was on her way to the BJP office in Udhna from Surat railway station on a moped this afternoon when the driver of a car coming at full speed from behind hit her moped near the jeevan flame in front of the office. The accident was so serious that she was seriously crushed when the wheel of the car rolled over her body. She suffered serious injuries on her abdomen and lower back and was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Udhna Darwaza and from there to a private hospital in Vesu for further treatment. Deepikaben, the mother of a 2-year-old child, has been severely damaged from the waist to this extent, so the doctors have refused to perform surgery and have been instructed to stay on full bedrest for now.
