Human Rights Federation Raises TRB Personnel Issues: Chief Minister’s Office Directs Necessary Action: Government’s attention drawn to TRB personnel’s working hours, adequate rest, and health concerns | Federation says representation has been forwarded to the Home Minister’s Secretary for further action

Gujarat, Gandhinagar: The Human Rights Federation (USA) has submitted a representation to the government highlighting important issues concerning the interests, rights, and working conditions of personnel serving in Gujarat State’s Traffic Regulation Brigade (TRB). According to the Federation, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has issued instructions to take the necessary action on the related email following the representation.

The Federation has drawn the government’s attention to the long working hours of TRB personnel and the lack of adequate rest during duty, among other concerns. According to the Federation, the challenges faced by personnel while managing traffic, along with their physical and mental well-being, must be given due consideration when formulating policies and making administrative decisions.

Chief Minister’s Office Directs Necessary Action: According to information received by the Federation, an email from the Additional Collector at the Chief Minister’s Office instructed the concerned authorities to take the necessary action on the relevant email thread and inform the applicant accordingly. The Federation has also stated that its representation was forwarded to the Secretary to the Home Minister for further action.

The Federation considers this development an important step in the process of bringing the concerns of TRB personnel to the attention of the appropriate authorities.

Key Demands of the Federation for TRB Personnel: The Human Rights Federation (USA) has called for improvements in the working conditions of TRB personnel, highlighting the following key demands:

  • Reduction in working hours: Appropriate decisions should be taken to reduce the long working hours of TRB personnel.
  • A proper balance between duty and rest: A structured and practical system should be established to ensure reasonable duty hours and adequate rest periods.
  • Protection of physical and mental health: Fatigue, health problems, and mental stress arising from extended duty hours should be taken seriously.
  • Time for family: Arrangements should be made to ensure that personnel have sufficient opportunities to spend time with their families.
  • Timely action on representations: Complaints and representations concerning the interests and welfare of TRB personnel should be addressed promptly.

Recognising the Challenges Faced by Personnel on the Roads: According to the Human Rights Federation (USA), TRB personnel play an important role in maintaining public order and managing traffic. They perform their duties under challenging conditions, including intense heat, rain, dust, and heavy traffic.

It is essential that personnel working in such conditions receive adequate rest, appropriate attention to their health, and a balanced working environment. The Federation believes that protecting the welfare and dignity of these personnel is just as important as recognising their commitment and responsibility towards their duties.

Awaiting the Final Government Decision: The instruction from the Chief Minister’s Office to take the necessary action represents a significant step in the process of addressing the issues raised by the Federation.

However, based on the documents currently available, no final government order confirming a reduction in TRB personnel’s working hours has yet been verified. Therefore, the final decision on this matter remains subject to an official government announcement.

The Human Rights Federation (USA) has stated that it will continue to raise issues concerning the interests, rights, and justice of TRB personnel through democratic and lawful channels. The Federation’s message is clear: The government should give serious and sympathetic consideration to improving TRB personnel’s working conditions, ensuring adequate rest, and protecting their legitimate interests.
