The man who supplied the heroin drugs was declared wanted. ASI Laxmikant Bhikhubhai Desai (57, resident of Sanmilan Society, Subhanpura Battle Road, Vadodara), who was posted in the Vadodara city SOG branch, has been arrested for his alleged involvement with the accused peddler Amriksindh Udde Sonu Malhi. Laxmikant Desai was arrested by the SMC under sections 8(c), 222 (b) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. ASI Laxmikant Desai was subsequently suspended. The accused ASI Laxmikant Desai was produced before the court on February 1 for further interrogation by the SMC team. The investigating officer had sought a 14-day remand before the court. The magistrate then granted the police custody of the accused for four days till February 5.
