Vadodara News: Police crack down on gamblers on Janmashtami, more than 63 arrested in 24 hours

The Vadodara city police have turned a red eye against anti-social elements who are running gambling rackets under the guise of the holy festival of Janmashtami and celebrating the festival as a 'gambling day'. In order to maintain peace and law and order during the festival, the police conducted an intensive drive of surprise raids in various areas of Vadodara city on the basis of informers and surveillance.

Raids in areas including Panigate, Makarpura and Manjalpur

The police team raided gambling dens operating from different sensitive and suspicious areas of the city such as Panigate, Makarpura, Manjalpur and Dashrath village. During the raids conducted by different teams, more than 30 gamblers were caught red-handed from the spot.

A total of 63 people were arrested in 24 hours.

A total of more than 63 gamblers have been arrested in the last 24 hours under this special drive conducted by the Vadodara city police. The police have registered a case against all the accused by seizing cash, mobile phones and vehicles during the raid and further legal action is underway.

Police warn against anti-social activities

It has been clearly warned that the Vadodara Police Department will continue to take similar strict action against gamblers or any other illegal activities during the festive celebrations. This flat action of the police has caused a huge flutter among the gambling elements. Legal action is currently being taken against all these accused.
