Liquor gathering at BSNL office in Valsad: Police raid two men found drunk when they opened the door of the office

Two persons were caught consuming liquor from the BSNL office near the police headquarters in Valsad city, which is responsible for maintaining law and order. Acting on a tip-off, the Valsad city police raided the BSNL office adjacent to the head post office. The incident has raised questions on the implementation of liquor prohibition in the state. According to the information received, last night, police constable of Valsad City Police Station A.D. Pallava and his team were on patrol. Meanwhile, Bhavesh Kumar Ramanlal, the officer in charge of the police station, received a telephonic information that some people were talking loudly in a room of the BSNL office and a liquor party was going on there. On the basis of this information, a police convoy immediately reached the spot. When the police opened the door of the office and checked inside, they found two men in a drunken state. Empty bottles of foreign liquor were also recovered from a table in the room. During interrogation the speech of the two men was slurred and their physical balance was also found to be disturbed. Examination through a breath analyzer confirmed that both of them had consumed alcohol. The arrested accused have been identified as Rakeshbhai Harishchandra Kori (42) and Rameshchandra Ramgarib Kori (42), both residents of the police headquarters in Abrama. Both are residents of Tulsivan Society, opposite Geeta Shop, Police Headquarters Road, Abrama. The Valsad city police have registered a case under the Gujarat Prohibition Act and sent the two accused for medical examination and further legal action is underway. The incident has rekindled discussions on strict enforcement of liquor prohibition in Valsad district.
