Maharashtra govt slams Opposition for tying wife to plough: CM Devendra Fadnavis offers immediate help

A video of Kashinath Gaikwad, a farmer from Bombali Khurd in Devani taluka of Latur district, went viral on social media. In this video, he is seen ploughing the field with his wife Ausabai. One of his bulls had died due to lightning and he could not afford to buy another bull. So he tied his wife to the plough and started ploughing the land instead of another bull. The video of the incident went viral, prompting criticism from opposition leaders, prompting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take immediate cognisance of the matter and direct the district administration to provide necessary assistance. The chief minister approached the district collector of Latur and ordered the farmer to make bullocks available for ploughing from a nearby gaushala. An assistance of Rs 32,000 has also been approved for purchase of new bulls. Two days ago, a double disaster befell Kashinath Gaekwad. He was working in the field when a storm struck with rain and lightning. One of his two bulls died on the spot due to lightning. The Gaekwad family was in trouble as their main source of farming was snatched away. Since he did not have money to buy another bull, he decided to plough the land with the help of his wife, the video of which went viral. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction leader Ambadas Danve and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar also sought immediate help for the family. The family did not own land to earn a living by doing agricultural work. He used to do various farm work including ploughing and sowing the land and earn his livelihood on it. In addition, one of his bulls died in a natural disaster. However, now the family has come as a big relief with the help from the government. A subsidy of Rs 32,000 along with bullocks from a nearby gaushala was also approved for the farmer to cultivate the land
