
World Oral Health Day 2026: The risk of oral cancer is increasing alarmingly in Gujarat. Statistics released on the occasion of World Oral Health Day (March 20) show that thousands of people have been screened at the Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH) in Ahmedabad during the year 2025 showing early signs of oral cancer. The increase in cases of pre-malignant diseases (PMDs) in particular points to the dire state of oral health in the state.
Steady rise in cases: Risk increased compared to 2024
According to the official data released by the government, there has been a huge jump in the number of patients in the 'pre-cancer' stage before reaching the serious stage of cancer.
