Actor Dino Morea questioned for 6 hours: Case related to Mithi river desilting scam; Rs 65 crore scam alleged.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police on Friday questioned Bollywood actor Dino Morea for six hours in connection with the Mithi river cleaning scam. According to an EOW official, after interrogation, the actor was let go. He can be called back if needed. Morea's name has come up in the probe because he is accused of being associated with contractors and officials who misappropriated government funds allocated for flood protection and maintenance of the drainage system in Mumbai. The development comes at a time when Dino Disha is also facing a probe into the death of Salian. Last year, the ED raided Dino's house. In 2025, the ED had raided 15 places in Mumbai and Kochi, including Morea's house. In this raid, people and organizations associated with the contractors and officials who were under the purview of the investigation were targeted. Investigations revealed that the accused Ketan Kadam and Jay Joshi had conspired with the officials of the Metprop company and the BMC's storm water drainage department. When the call records of Ketan Kadam, the main accused in the scam, were examined, the name of actor Dino Morea and his brother came to light. Both of them had spoken to Ketan Kadam on several occasions. Investigators believe that Dino Morea and Ketan are not just friends, but money can also be exchanged between them. For this reason, Dino is being questioned under the purview of the investigation. What was Mithi River Desilting Project The Mithi River Desilting Project was started by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other civic agencies after the 2005 Mumbai floods. The project was aimed at improving flood management by removing debris and maintaining the river bed. Later investigations found a discrepancy between the work reported for desilting and the actual work done, which raised doubts about the utilization of the project funds.
