Kutchi folk fusion with Dwarka vibes!: 'Aghori Music' band ready with 'Welcome to Gujarat' album; Glimpses of Gujarati Bhatigal culture in 14 songs
Aghori Music, the famous band that has laid the foundation of hip-hop culture in Gujarat's folk music for the last decade, is all set to launch its global project 'Welcome to Gujarat'. With this new album, which aims to give a new identity to Gujarati heritage at the global level, the band is also going to officially announce their first 'World Tour'. A total of 14 songs have been included in the upcoming album 'Welcome to Gujarat', which will see a wonderful fusion of traditional culture and modern western music. The album mainly includes 'Hum (Lions Roar)', 'Charan Kanya', 'Na Chhandya Hathiyar', 'Kutch - Chandni Ni Chadar' with Diwaliben Ahir, 'Saath Krishna To What Question?', 'Manki-Garba Gheli', 'Dummar Dak-6 (Dakla)', a special song 'Something Tribal', 'Sona Vatakadi Freestyle', 'Juna Juna Jogi', 'Girni Kedi Vanki', 'Charj' and the title track 'Welcome to Gujarat' featuring the main theme of the album. Aghori Music, which has been performing regional songs in the hip-hop style for over a decade, embarked on this different kind of musical journey in 2016. The band has released more than 100 original songs so far. The band's lead artists, Cruise, K.Deep, and Hard-D, all write songs, compose music, sing, and shoot the video themselves. Aghori Music is the only official music band in the world to present 'Hip-Hop Garba' by combining traditional garba with modern rap beats. "Our regional language and culture is so capable that it can be proudly presented on any platform at the international level. Rather than being limited to social media or digital platforms, we want to bring this unique musical culture to life on a live stage through the upcoming World Tour. The band is confident that this album and global tour will prove to be a milestone in representing Gujarati culture globally." Talking about the creative journey of the album, Devarsh Kothari, Creative Head, Aghori Music, said, "As a creative team, 'Welcome to Gujarat' has been the most challenging and unique project for us so far. The 14 songs on this album are followed by months of research and musical experiments, where we have moulded everything from the spiritual vibes of Dwarka to the folk elements of Kutch and tribal music with Western hip-hop drums into an international level sound. Through this album and live world tour, we are going to give the audience a visual and audio experience that has never been seen or heard before in the regional music world."
