Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has called a meeting of the city BJP to finalise its candidates for the upcoming local body polls. On the second day of the meeting, a meeting of the coordination committee will be held on April 5 to discuss the names of the western region. A panel of 12 names is being prepared for the candidate According to BJP sources, 2,364 candidates have filed their nominations for 192 seats out of 48 wards in the city. After obtaining the biodata of the candidates, the BJP had called a meeting of the coordination committee from April 4 to maintain the secrecy of the names of the candidates. Leaders including city presidents, general secretaries, regional office bearers and MLAs have verified the resumes of the candidates and three names for one candidate and 12 names for four candidates in one ward are being prepared. After the coordination meeting in the city, there will be a meeting of the state coordination committee in which the name of all these candidates will be discussed on the panel and then the discussion will be held in the state parliamentary board. The BJP is likely to announce its candidates on April 9 or 10. The meeting of the city and state coordination committee for the local body elections to be held in Gujarat will be completed in two days, in which the bio-data of the candidates who have contested the municipal elections and district and taluka panchayat elections across Gujarat will be examined and a panel of different names will be prepared and placed in the state parliamentary board. On April 9 or 10, the Gujarat BJP will announce the election list for the municipal seats. Publicity campaign, distribution of pamphlets to society and flats The Gujarat BJP will start its campaign for the local body and municipal elections from today. Today, 5th April, pamphlets are being distributed among the people under the Ghar Ghar Sampark campaign. Pamphlets of the development works done by the BJP have been distributed to all the leaders and workers of Gujarat by the ghost presidents by going door-to-door. Pamphlets have been sent to all the booth presidents and distributed to the society and flats by them so that all the information about the development works done in Gujarat and the region in the last five years reach the people.
