The woman then snatched Rs 10,68,000 from the elderly woman and fled, including gold ornaments and cash. The elderly woman has lodged a complaint at the city Kotda police station in this regard. She introduced herself as a government employee and lured her
Sarojben Jain, a 60-year-old resident of Khokhra area, had gone to Shardaben Hospital on October 7 for ear treatment. While they were getting down from the hospital with medicines, a young woman introduced herself as a government employee. As a senior citizen, she told her to fill the form of the Pradhan Mantri Free Treatment Scheme and get an advance of Rs 15,000. She took her to the ATM and Adalaj Bank
The thug then took the old woman to different ATMs by asking her to withdraw money from the ATM. Later, she was taken to Union Bank in Adalaj village, where she was given Rs 10,000. The girl said that she would have to fill the form in the bank but if she was wearing jewellery, the bank would not approve the form, so she asked her to take out the jewellery and put it in the purse. On the pretext of Xerox withdrawal, she fled with the jewellery.
Sarojben put the jewellery in the purse and gave it to the girl. Later, on the pretext of extracting Xerox, the girl fled with jewellery worth Rs 10.68 lakh and a purse full of cash. The girl was not found despite the old woman searching around. Upon learning that she had been cheated, the old woman lodged a complaint against the unknown woman thug at the city Kotda police station and the police are investigating further.
