Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education and Psychology, the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is organizing AICTEs, Govt. of India online Faculty Development Programme on Leadership Excellence- Academic Leadership in Higher Education in the context of National Education Policy-2020 during 21-25 June 2021. 200 university teachers across the country have registered for this program. AICTE, under ATAL scheme is organizing faculty development programmes for teachers of higher education for the capacity building for the implementation of NEP-2020.
The programme was inaugurated today with the inaugural address by the Hon’ble Vice-chancellor Prof. Parimal Vyas. Professional Development of teachers is the key for quality education. National Education Policy has several promises and it is teachers to exercise academic leadership to implement the recommendations successfully. Institutions of higher education need to build their capacity to respond promptly, positively and wisely to the ever-changing demands of the society. The teachers and the administrators of higher education system have to be skilled not only in identifying what learning programs, research initiatives, engagement projects, approaches, priorities, quality improvements and strategic developments consistent with their mission, but also focus on making sure that these desired changes are put into practice successfully and sustainably. In this context Academic leadership is a key for institutional transformation, Said Vice Chancellor.
Prof. R.C.Patel, Dean, Faculty of Education and Psychology has welcomed the participants and stressed the need for continuous capacity building of teachers in higher education. Prof. K.Pushpanadham, Co-ordinator of AICTE/ATAL Faculty Development programme mentioned that this Academic Leadership Programme for University teachers is the first of this kind and the Department of Educational Management is taking lead in training and development. This programme covers the focus areas identified the AICTE for the implementation of NEP 2020. They include- 1) Multi-Disciplinary and Holistic Education, 2) Equity and Inclusion in Higher Education, 3) Research, Innovation, and Rankings, 4) Global Outreach of Higher Education, 5) Motivated, Energized, and Capable Faculty, 6) Integrated Higher Education System, 7) Governance and Regulation, 8) Promotion of Indian Languages, Arts, and Culture, and 9) Technology Use and Integration.
National and International Resource persons are invited to deliberate on these themes in details. Dr. Muriel Poisson from the UNESCO, Paris will discuss on the Academic Integrity and Ethics with the participants, said Prof. K.Pushpanadham
