Wanted accused arrested with fake police ID in Amreli: Liquor and fake ID found in car, 4-day remand approved

Khambha police have nabbed a wanted accused while patrolling for the local body polls in Amreli district. A search of a car in Dedan area led to the recovery of 6 bottles of liquor and a fake identity card of the Gujarat Police. The arrested accused, 32-year-old Chirag Goberbhai Jadhav, was the main accused in the Ahmedabad honey trap case and was absconding for a long time. The police suspected that liquor was found in the car, prompting further investigation. A fake ID card of the Gujarat Police was found in a secret compartment near the steering wheel of the car. In this I-card, the accused was seen in khaki uniform, which he used to extort money by creating fear among the people. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Chirag Jadhav was the main accused in the honey trap case in Ahmedabad's Naroda area. He along with his accomplices had extorted about Rs 3 lakh from a person by posing as a fake policeman. Apart from this, he was also found to be involved in more than 6 crimes including fights and robberies in Surat and Ahmedabad. The Khambha police have arrested the accused, Chirag Jadhav, and seized Rs 2 lakh in cash. The court has granted a 4-day remand of the accused, on the basis of which the police are now conducting further investigations to find out the other accomplices of the entire racket and the links associated with it. Dhari ASP Jaiveer Gadhvi said that a suspicious car was found near Dedan during an election patrol by the Khambha police. From these, 6 bottles of English liquor and fake ID cards of Gujarat Police were recovered. The accused Chirag was also involved in honeytrap and other crimes in Ahmedabad and was absconding.
