Abhayam gave shelter to a destitute elderly woman from Assam in Reshabshera: Son and daughter-in-law reached Vadodara by train, refused to go home.

The 'Abhayam' women's helpline has proved to be an angel for the destitute elderly woman from Assam who reached Vadodara by mistake and has been wandering for the last four months. Following the hotline information of a conscious citizen, the team of Abhayam traced the elderly woman, counselled her and provided her a safe shelter in 'Rainbashera' for the homeless in Atladara. Abhayam gets a call that the old woman is in a helpless state According to the information received, the elderly woman has been roaming in a helpless condition for some time in the Railway Container Ward (Yard) area of Vadodara. Such a call was made by an informed citizen on the 181 Abhayam helpline. As soon as the call was received, Abhayam's rescue team immediately reached the address mentioned and interrogated the elderly woman. Son and daughter-in-law left home due to torture It was found that the woman is a native of Assam. Her husband and sons and daughters live in Assam and do farming. The son and daughter-in-law used to torture him physically and mentally as well as not give him equal food. Tired of the torture, the elderly woman used to earn a living by begging at the railway station in Assam. One day, he accidentally boarded a train and got off at Vadodara station. The elderly woman refused to return home For the last 4 months, the elderly woman had been living in the railway container ward area of Vadodara. The labourers and their families working there helped the old woman by giving her food. When the Abhayam team asked the elderly woman to return to her native Assam, she categorically refused to go home due to family harassment and expressed her willingness to stay here. An elderly woman was given shelter in Rainbashera Keeping in mind the sensitive condition of the elderly woman and her wishes, the Abhayam team contacted Rainbasera, an organisation for homeless people in the Atladara area. The elderly woman has been given a safe haven there after completing the necessary procedures.
