Bhavnagar RTO checks for the second day in a row: 22 school-college vehicles fined, fine of more than Rs 1.20 lakh collected

As soon as the new academic session began, the Bhavnagar RTO conducted an intensive checking drive against vehicles used in schools and colleges for the second consecutive day keeping in mind the safety of students. This sudden action of the RTO has led to a huge flutter among the motorists and the association of school van-buses for violating the rules. Makwana and his team had set up a watch since early morning and intensified checks were conducted. A total of 22 vehicles were booked for violating the rules during the drive. There were serious violations such as overcrowding, violation of permits, lack of driving licence, lack of third-party insurance, and lack of PUC and fitness certificates. A fine of more than Rs 1,20,000 was collected on the spot by the RTO department from all these vehicles. Makwana said the drive has been launched outside various schools in the city as per strict instructions from the district collector and RTO officer. Our main goal is to ensure the safety of students. According to the Motor Vehicles Act, the papers of the vehicles are being checked to see if the documents are correct and the mechanical condition of the vehicle is fit. Heavy penalties have also been imposed on private vehicles that do not have permits to transport students but roam illegally. This drive will continue daily in different areas of the city in the coming days. RTO appeals to parents, put the child in the vehicle only after checking the papers The RTO official has also made a special appeal to the parents through the media that the parents should check all the documents, insurance, permits and condition of the vehicle as per the rules of the school bus, van or rickshaw in which you send your children. Use transport to send the child to school only after thorough verification so that there is no risk to their safety. Due to this strict action of the RTO, now the administrators of schools and colleges and vehicle owners are rushing to complete the incomplete paperwork and safety standards of their vehicles.
