The Gujarat government has taken an important decision for permanent recruitment of exercise teachers. A 10-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of principal secretary, primary education. On April 17, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on the issue of sports assistant. There was a demand to scrap the sports assistance scheme of the education department due to inconsistencies in the rules. The teachers' association alleged that despite the fact that the exercise teacher is mandatory in the primary section of classes 1 to 8, recruitment is not being done. The committee will suggest necessary changes in the existing provision for recruitment of permanent exercise teachers in primary and secondary education. Exercise in other states will study the system of permanent recruitment of teachers. The rules will determine the pay scale and the process of appointment. "After the agitation, the government has accepted the demand for recruitment," said Dr Chirag Patel, minister of Krida Bharati Gujarat province. After the recommendation of the committee, permanent exercise teachers will soon be recruited in primary and secondary schools. The committee is chaired by the principal secretary of primary and secondary education. Two deputy secretaries, deputy directors, chairman of Gujarat Secondary Board, school commissioner, director of primary education, Krida Bharti, Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh and representatives of Sports Authority of Gujarat are included.
