Chaitra Vasava approaches HC seeking stay on Narmada court's conviction: Bail plea to be heard on August 5

MLA Chaitar Vasava was sentenced to 7 years in jail by a Narmada district court in a case of attacking a forest officer and firing in the air. Narmada court sentences 9 accused to 7 years in jail The Narmada police had registered an offence under IPC sections 143, 143, 149, 186, 294, 353, 386 of the Arms Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act against the accused, including Narmada MLA Chaitar Vasava and his wife Shakuntala Vasava. Earlier in the bail pleas before the verdict of the Narmada court in the same case, it was submitted that some land in the forest was vacant. Where the people living in the village planted cotton. The forest officials vacated the place and sold the goods in the open market. So the villagers approached Chaitar Vasava with a demand for compensation. So Chaitar Vasava held a meeting with the forest officials. The dispute ended when the forest officials agreed to pay compensation. But later a police complaint was lodged at the behest of a senior forest department official. MLA Chaitar Vasava had threatened the forest department officials and demanded a compensation of Rs 60,000. The MLA abused him by threatening to break his hands and legs. Chaitar Vasava also asked a person to bring a revolver from his house and later fired a round in the air. The employees who threatened the forest department employees by beating them up withdrew the amount from their account through ATM and paid it to the farmer.
