Vadodara: The Food and Drugs Department of the state has turned a red eye against pharma firms that are illegally selling intoxicating cough syrup on the basis of bogus bills in Vadodara city and Ahmedabad.
Bogus bills generated on a large scale
According to the information received, on the basis of specific information received by the Food and Drugs Department, a raid was conducted at SD Pharma, Sun Pharma Road, Vadodara. During the investigation, the firm had purchased a large quantity of codeine cough syrup equivalent to about 9,000 bottles from Uttar Pradesh.
The licenses of all three firms were cancelled
The consignment of cough syrup was supplied by SD Pharma to 'AJ Enterprise' located in Harni area of Vadodara and 'Francy Enterprise' of Ahmedabad. As soon as this entire racket came to light, the Food and Drugs Department has cancelled the licenses of all the three firms, SD Pharma, AJ Enterprise and Francy Enterprise.
