The bravery of Indian Captain Smit Machar, who saved a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel from crashing, has been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Posting on X, Modi described Captain Machar as a "hero" and said that despite being seriously injured in a very dangerous situation, he showed tremendous courage and unwavering resolve to save the lives of others.
Knife attack on Captain in the cockpit
Captain Smit Machar has been identified as the Indian pilot who played a key role in preventing an alleged hijacking attempt in the cockpit of a Flydubai flight on Wednesday i.e. September 30. According to reports, there was chaos in the cockpit of flight FZ 1073 when an Oman pilot allegedly tried to hijack the aircraft and cause it to crash.
During this time, there was a clash between the two pilots and Captain Machar was attacked with a knife. He was seriously injured. Despite this, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing the passengers to reach inside and take control of the situation.

After the plane landed in Tel Aviv, the passengers informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the incident. According to the passengers, the injured Captain Machar had opened the cockpit door. The passengers then reached inside and subdued the second pilot.
Two other pilots were also on board as passengers. He then took control of the aircraft and diverted it to Saudi Arabia to make an emergency landing. According to reports, Captain Machar also underwent surgery after being injured in the incident.

Captain Smit Machar has been working as a captain with Flydubai since June 2022. Prior to this, he worked at SpiceJet for nearly 11 years, where he held the post of Senior Commander.
Machar has also held the responsibility of Line Training Captain. In this role, he has experience in training, guiding pilots and assessing their ability.
