The Shinore police have arrested Talati Nitin Jetani, who has been on the run for a long time, in a serious case of misappropriation and embezzlement of government funds to the tune of Rs 11.64 lakh in Sadhli gram panchayat of Shinore taluka of Vadodara district. The accused Talati has been accused of illegally transferring government money from the bank account of Sadhali Gram Panchayat to the bank account of his personal friend.
Court grants 4-day remand
An official case in this regard was registered at Shinore police station on January 22, 2025. Talati Nitin Jetani, who had been absconding for the last one and a half years after registering the case, was arrested by the Shinore police and produced before the Shinore court. The court granted a four-day remand of the accused Talati till 11 am on August 12 after the police sought a remand to get to the root of the embezzlement and the scam.
Inquiry begins into irregularities in other panchayats
As soon as the remand was approved, the Shinore police have started an intensive probe to gather statistical and financial evidence. During the police investigation, the accused Talati will be questioned in the direction of where and for what purposes the money of government embezzlement has been used. Apart from this, an in-depth probe will also be conducted to find out if there has been any misappropriation or embezzlement of government funds in other villages where the accused had earlier served as a Talati.
