The wall collapsed due to heavy rains near the under-construction railway underpass in the powerhouse area of Godhra city. The road to the nearby residential area has been completely closed due to the incident. Construction of a new underpass is underway at a cost of crores of rupees at the railway gate LC-4 on the road connecting the city's Bhagol and the powerhouse. The underpass has been waterlogged due to heavy rains in Godhra over the past few days. Due to this, the construction work has come to a standstill. The rainwater has started erosion in the area around the underpass. The movement of about 50 families living in the area has been affected. The situation is so serious that people can't even walk, let alone two-wheelers. Local residents led by social activist Sanjay Tahilyani have demanded immediate repair of the road from the concerned department. The problem will continue till the rainwater is properly drained out and the road is repaired.
