Gujarat Govt: Gujarat government takes a big decision on fertilizer

State Government has taken another important decision to ensure adequate, affordable and transparent availability of chemical fertilizers to the farmers of the state. On the directions of Agriculture Minister Jitubhai Vaghani, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has specially appointed Investigation Officers and Inspection Officers to inspect the distribution system of subsidized fertilizers in the state and take strict action against irregularities.
 
appointed Investigation Officers will personally visit the Fertilizer dealers to verify the figures and physical stock of the POS machines. He will also conduct a detailed scrutiny of the top dealers of urea in every district. Apart from this, strict verification will also be done whether farmers are getting fertilizers as per their demand, whether any other fertilizer or product is tagged with urea without consultation.
 
If any dealer or agency is found guilty of irregularities, overpricing or tagging of stocks during investigation, strict legal action will be taken against them. The State Government is fully committed to ensure smooth and reasonable supply of fertilizers to the farmers><
