Rajkot: Sandhia Bridge, designed to reduce the traffic load of the city and provide more convenient connectivity to the areas of western Rajkot, is now going to be opened to the public. Built at a cost of about Rs 74 crore, the bridge will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi tomorrow. According to the information received

the bridge will be inaugurated by Harsh Sanghvi tomorrow morning. After the inauguration, a number of cultural and entertainment programmes have been planned in the evening including Happy Street near the bridge, in which a large number of citizens are likely to join. With the opening of the Sandhia Bridge, more than 50,000 motorists will get rid of traffic problems every day. People living in Ghanteshwar, Madhapar, Parapipalia and surrounding areas will be benefited by faster and easier commuting.

All preparations have been finalized. The minor shortcomings in this bridge have been rectified after day and night work in the last eight days. With the inauguration of this bridge, more than 50,000 people of areas including Ghinteshwar, Madhapar and Parapipaliya on Rajkot-Jamnagar highway will get rid of traffic problem permanently. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has constructed a new Sandhia Bridge at a cost of Rs 74 crore to relieve the motorists from the problem of railway crossings and traffic jams while passing through Jamnagar Road for years. The administration had been working for the last few months to complete the work on the bridge within the stipulated time

Mayor of Rajkot Dr. Nehal Shukla and the municipal commissioner jointly reached the spot. The entire political and administrative machinery, including the deputy mayor of the corporation, the chairman of the standing committee, the dandak and the leader of the ruling party, were present at the bridge for inspection. The leaders, along with engineers, inspected the bridge slabs, connectivity roads, street lights and paintwork. Residents of Rajkot are cordially invited to attend this glittering evening with family and friends. With the commissioning of this bridge, vehicles connecting towards Madhapur Chowk, Jamnagar Highway and Gondal Road will get non-stop connectivity, which will result in huge savings of both fuel and time.
