Vadodara: A research paper prepared by a woman engineer working in the Roads and Buildings Department in Vadodara to increase the life of concrete roads by using bamboo waste has gained international recognition.
The paper has been selected to be presented in the Sustainable Development section of the upcoming Civil Engineering Conference in the Asian Region on Jeju Island, South Korea. Deputy executive engineer Rajeshwari Nair of the Vadodara office of the roads and buildings department has carried out the research to increase the capacity of concrete. In which bamboo fibre has been used. The use of bamboo reduces cracks in concrete roads. The lifespan of the road increases, the maintenance cost decreases.
