Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired an important meeting of the state cabinet on August 11. Several important decisions were taken in the meeting related to land acquisition, renewable energy, agriculture, education, skill development and justice. Ahead of the cabinet meeting, a significant change has been made in the local holidays for Mumbai city and Mumbai suburbs. The local holiday of Dahi Handi, which was announced on September 5, has been cancelled. Instead, this year's Raksha Bandhan has been declared a local holiday. The General Administration Department has issued an official government order in this regard. The decision will be applicable to all state government and semi-government offices located in Mumbai city and Mumbai suburbs. The cabinet also decided to revise the rate of interest payable in case of delay in payment of compensation for land acquisition. For this, Section 72 of the Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 will be amended. It has been decided to waive stamp duty on land transfer transactions between company or Special Purpose Vehicle for renewable energy projects. Apart from this, a 25 per cent concession will be given in the transfer fee on the land purchased for such projects. This includes positions for agricultural engineering, statistics and information technology related responsibilities. The Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister approved the proposal for loan from National Cooperative Development Corporation for capital expenditure and working capital. A loan proposal of Rs 18.09 crore for the factory will be sent to NCDC. The guidelines regarding setting up of private skill universities on self-financing basis have also been approved. Permission has been granted to start new courses and additional batches of social work in senior colleges. Social Work Colleges running on permanent non-grant basis will also be allowed to start new courses and additional batches.
