Floods in 23 districts of UP: 5 lakh people affected in Bihar; Mandakini-Narmada surge in MP, 266 people have died in Himachal so far

Due to incessant rains in Uttar Pradesh, flood-like situation has been created in 23 districts. Varanasi and Chitrakoot are the worst affected. So far, more than 16 thousand people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas. So far 407 families have left their homes in Varanasi. All 84 ghats of Kashi have been submerged in water. About 5 lakh people have been affected by the floods in 16 districts of Bihar. 8 major rivers including Ganga are flowing above the danger level. The water level of Ganga in Patna is continuously rising. In view of this, all 108 roads of Patna security wall have been closed so that water cannot enter the city through drains. In Madhya Pradesh, the Mandakini and Narmada rivers are flowing above the danger level. At the same time, flood situation has been created in many districts including Chhatarpur, Satna, Mandla, Maihar. Water is being released from Kutni in Chhatarpur and Bargi dams in Jabalpur. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains in the state for the next 48 hours. So far, 266 people have died in rain-related incidents in Himachal Pradesh this monsoon season.
