Shri Krishna Janmashtami today, Mangala Aarti in Mathura-Dwarka, puja to be held throughout the day: 75 lakh devotees expected to arrive; Lord Jagannath will give birth to Kanha in Puri

Shri Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated across the country today. 4th September is the 5253rd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. From Mathura-Vrindavan to Jagannathpuri and Dwarka, there is enthusiasm for Janmashtami. Mangala Aarti was performed at Janmabhoomi in Mathura, Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka, ISKCON Temple in Delhi and Govind Dev Ji Temple in Jaipur. Devotees are reaching Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, since Thursday night. It is estimated that about 75 lakh devotees can reach Braj Mandal, including Mathura-Vrindavan, for the Janmotsav. On the other hand, on Janmashtami, the main temple in Jagannath Puri in Odisha will be closed for 5 hours for a special ritual. In this ritual, Lord Krishna will take the form of a mother and give birth to Shri Krishna. Just before Janmashtami, special gifts were sent to Shri Laddu Gopal from Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to Shri Krishna Janmasthan in Mathura. This tradition started in 2024. On the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami at Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, a 21-gun salute was fired. This tradition has been going on in Nathdwara for 352 years.
