The central government has withdrawn emergency controls imposed on the supply of natural gas. The government had issued these provisions in March this year, under which the government was directly controlling the allocation and supply of natural gas
At that time, the government was empowered to decide which sector would get how much natural gas if needed as the objective was to prioritise fertilisers, CNG-PNG, power generation and other essential sectors during the possible shortage of gas. The aim was to ensure that even if there is a shortage of gas, there is minimal impact on the common people and essential services.
