India to host Champions Trophy, ICC makes 'historic' announcement

India will host the ICC Women's Champions Trophy to be held next year. The ICC has officially announced it today. In the first edition of the tournament, 6 teams will play. The tournament will be played in Mumbai and Vadodara from 14 to 28 February. Mumbai's Cricket Club of India and Vadodara International Cricket Stadium will host this important tournament. In addition to host India, teams from Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka will play in it.

Pakistan women's cricket team will not play in this tournament. Let us know that these 6 teams have qualified based on their position in the ICC Women's T20 Team Rankings as of the cut-off date of July 6. Talking about the format of the Women's Champions Trophy, it will be played in a round-robin format. Each team will play 1-1 match with the other 5 teams. After the league stage, the final between the top-2 teams of the points table will be held on February 28.

Sri Lanka was supposed to host

Sri Lanka was to host the first edition of the ICC Women's Champions Trophy. Now India has got it, as Sri Lanka Cricket is in the process of implementing the governance reforms suggested by the ICC. In the annual conference held in July, the ICC expressed concern about the governance of Sri Lanka cricket. Sri Lanka was also barred from representing in the ICC board meetings.
