Israel’s far-right finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, on Oct. 27, defended his earlier comment that “the Saudis can keep riding camels.” He questioned why the criticism was directed at him rather than at Saudi Arabia itself, which, he said, has been consistently hostile toward Israel.“The Saudis have said much more offensive things about us. They’ve taken part in antisemitic rhetoric - and no one demanded that they apologise. So I made an unfortunate comment - oh dear, we offended the Saudis! How terrible, who will ever recover from this?” Smotrich said.He was referring to his remark where he said that Saudi Arabia should "keep riding camels" if it asks for a Palestinian state in exchange for normalising ties with Israel.n18oc_world n18oc_crux 0:00 INTRODUCTION3:48 BIBI ANGERED BY SMOTRICH’S CAMEL REMARK4:52 ‘NORMALISATION WITH SAUDI TOP SECURITY INTEREST’7:20 SAUDI HOSTS MEETING ON TWO-STATE SOLUTION
