6.0 magnitude earthquake hits off coast of Japan: Epicentre at 352 km depth in sea, no tsunami alert

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck near the coast of Japan's Mi province on Sunday morning. According to the American Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was about 110 kilometers south of Tsu, the capital of Mi Province. Tsu has a population of more than 2.5 million. The earthquake struck at a depth of 352 kilometers above the ground in the sea. No tsunami warning has been issued after the quake. There are no reports of injuries or loss of life and property at this time. On the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), people said that the tremors were felt for a long time. Initially, there were mild tremors, which gradually intensified. 90% of the world's earthquakes fall in this Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire is an area where oceanic tectonic plates exist along the continental plates. When these plates collide with each other, earthquakes occur. Tsunamis and volcanoes also erupt due to their impact. In this way, the intensity of an earthquake is estimated by the energy waves emitted from its epicenter. This wave, which is spread over hundreds of kilometers, causes tremors. There are also cracks in the earth. If the center of the earthquake is at a low depth, the energy released from it is very close to the surface, which can cause massive destruction. 90% of the world's earthquakes fall in this Ring of Fire. This area is spread over 40 thousand kilometers. Of all the active volcanoes in the world, 75% are in this region. 15 countries - Japan, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand, Antarctica, Canada, America, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia are under the Ring of Fire. Now know why earthquakes occur? The surface of our earth is mainly made up of 7 large and many small tectonic plates. These plates are constantly rotating and sometimes collide with each other. Many times, due to collisions, the corners of the plates bend and when there is a lot of pressure, these plates start breaking. In such a situation, the energy coming out from below finds a way out and this disturbance is followed by an earthquake.
