Cloudburst caused flooding in the upper reaches of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. Houses and shops have been damaged due to falling stones and debris from the hills. Several vehicles were buried under the debris on the roads. Heavy rains have been lashing several districts of Maharashtra. Mumbai has received about 15 inches (380 mm) of rain in the last 48 hours. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Tuesday. A holiday has been declared in all government and private schools and colleges in Mumbai. In Nashik too, all schools and colleges are closed today. The Trimbakeshwar temple and the Saptashringi temple, one of the three and a half Shakti Peeths in Maharashtra, will also remain closed for devotees today. In Madhya Pradesh, more than 35 districts received rainfall in the last 24 hours. Khajuraho recorded the highest rainfall of 4.4 inches. The National Highway-39 in Bamitha was flooded by 3 feet. In Balaghat, cars, JCBs and loaders engaged in the construction of a bridge on the Kiranpur-Lanji road were swept away by the strong currents as the Wagh river near the Maharashtra border was flooded.
