The gates of Morbi's Machhu 3, Ghodadhroi Dam have been opened: 2.5 inches of rain in 24 hours, 31 villages alerted

In the last 24 hours, Morbi district has received half an inch to a quarter of an inch of rainfall. Due to the rains in the upper basin, one gate each of Machhu 3 and Ghodadhroi Dam has been opened. A total of 31 villages were alerted before releasing water into the river. It has been raining slowly in Morbi since yesterday evening. In the last 24 hours, Morbi city and taluka have received 1.75 inches of rainfall. Lighted taluka received 1.25 inches (1.25 inches), Wankaner taluka one inch, and Tankara and Malia talukas half an inch. There were no reports of any major damage or disturbance due to the slow rains. Among the local reservoirs in Morbi district, Machhu 3 and Ghodadhroi dams had already overflowed due to previous rains. As the inflow of water has increased due to rains in the upper basin, 299 cusecs of water is being released by opening one of the gates of the Ghodadhroi dam by three inches from 8 am today. Before opening the gates of the dam, 10 villages in Morbi and Malia talukas were alerted. Similarly, the gates of Machhu 3 Dam have been opened by half a foot from 8 am today. Water is being released into the Machhu river from this dam. As many as 21 villages in Morbi and Malia talukas were alerted before releasing water into the river. The state meteorological department has predicted heavy rains in Morbi district, following which the system is in alert mode. A total of 31 villages have been put on alert due to the opening of the dam gates.
