Gujarat: Government employees protest against the government, 15-day ultimatum on 20 demands, including fixed pay system

Gujarat Government Employees: A lot of heat has spread in politics and administration as government employees in Gujarat have given a 15-day ultimatum to the government to solve their pending issues. With 20 main demands, such as ending the fixed pay system, filling up vacancies, reducing the workload and exemption from departmental examinations after the age of 50, the employees have threatened to launch a statewide agitation if their demands are not met

The government employees associations of the state have expressed their anger to the government over the long-pending issues. The main demand of the employees is to abolish the fixed salary system that has been going on for years, which causes financial exploitation of the employees. Apart from this, there has been a demand to reduce the additional workload on the existing employees by filling up the vacant posts for years in various departments immediately. A total of 20 issues have been submitted to the government, including exemption of senior employees above 50 years of age from the departmental examination required for promotion. The employees have made it clear that if a proper and satisfactory decision is not taken within a period of 15 days, the weapon of non-cooperation and agitation will be raised across the state.

If this conflict between the government and the employees is not resolved at the earliest, there is a danger that government services and administrative work will be disrupted. In the coming days, the government will be watching whether the employees take to the streets through mediation
