Patan MLA Dr. Arun Kumar has decided to start a Government Arts, Commerce and Science College in Saraswati taluka of Patan district. Kirit Patel has written a letter to the Chief Minister. MLA Dr. Kirit Patel said in the letter that the state government had earlier announced to start government arts, commerce and science colleges in all talukas of the state. He added that Saraswati taluka under Patan assembly constituency has been functional for the last 20 years. This taluka is a backward and especially populated area of Bakshi Panch. The poor and Bakshi Panch students of Saraswati taluka have to go to Patan or other cities for higher studies. As a result, most of the poor and backward daughters have to drop out of higher studies. There are more than 65 villages in this taluka. If a government college is opened in this area, then it will be very easy for the students of these villages to study up to the college level. The MLA has suggested to the Chief Minister to start a government college in Saraswati taluka in view of the above and include it in the upcoming budget.
