Due to heavy rains in Navsari and surrounding areas, the water level of purna river reached 3 feet above the danger level. Low-lying areas were flooded as the Purna river was flowing at a level of 26 feet. But gradually the water has receded to the alarming level of 23. During this time people heaved a sigh of relief. Meanwhile, more than 550 people were shifted to safer places due to the situation. The water level has started receding after remaining stagnant late at night. At 6 am, the water level of purna river was recorded at 24.50 feet. In the last 24 hours, Vansda has recorded the highest rainfall of 90 mm, Followed by Navsari (68 mm), Chikhali (64 mm) and Gandevi (61 mm). The level of Juj dam in the district was recorded at 164.70 feet (overflow level 167.50) and the level of Kelia dam was recorded at 111.25 feet (overflow level 113.40). Among other rivers, the Ambika river is flowing at 24.27 feet (danger level 28 feet) and the Cauvery river is flowing at 13 feet (danger level 19 feet). The gradual receding water level has brought relief to the affected and the system.
