'Pandya Store' fame Rohit Molerates 16-Year-Old Minor Actor, Arrested Under POCSO Act

Actor Rohit Chandel of 'Pandya Store' fame has been arrested for allegedly molesting and stalking a minor. He has also been accused of assault. According to a report in ABP News, a complaint was registered against Rohit under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) on July 10. He was arrested from his home in Mumbai's Dahisar on July 10 and produced before a special POCSO court. The actor is currently in custody. A 16-year-old girl from Mumbai's eastern suburbs has been booked by the Pant Nagar police station under sections 78 (chasing) and 115 (2) (intent to cause hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after receiving a complaint from a 16-year-old girl from Mumbai's eastern suburbs on Friday. The actor has been accused of repeatedly harassing the minor by calling her from his number. When the minor stopped picking up her phone, the actor started harassing her by repeatedly calling from another number. According to the complaint, on July 5, Rohit tried to forcibly stop the minor near her house and later chased her. When the girl protested, the actor abused and beat her up while arguing. The Indian Express quoted a police officer as saying, "The police will collect the footage from the CCTV cameras in the area where the alleged incident took place. The police will also record the detailed statement of the minor, on the basis of which the investigation will proceed." Rohit Chandel played the role of Dhawal Makwana in Star Plus' popular show 'Pandya Store' and Bajirao in Zee TV's historical show 'Kashibai Bajirao Ballal'. Rohit, who hails from Shahada in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district, has played professional cricket before entering acting. He played cricket for the Maharashtra Cricket Association and also represented his district in martial arts. In 2015, Rohit moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. He struggled a lot in the initial stages. He got his first commercial advertisement after being rejected in about 90 auditions. After this, he made his TV debut with 'Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal'. Later he appeared in many serials like 'Chandragupta Maurya', 'Tamanna' and 'Yeh Un Dinonon Ki Baat Hai'. In the year 2022, he played the role of a prince in Disney+ Hotstar's web series 'Escape Live', which was loved by the audience. 'Kashibai Bajirao Ballal' and 'Pandya Store' made it a household name. He was recently seen in series like 'Sairab' and 'Chawal Se Championship Tak'.
