Sakshi Chaudhary gold medal: The 2026 Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Glasgow are dominating Indian players, especially boxers. Saturday has proved to be a golden day for India. Indian boxer Sakshi Chaudhary won the gold medal in the women's 51 kg category. women's 51kg category, Sakshi Chaudhary faced boxer Ruby White of the host country England. However, Sakshi dominated the match right from the start. In the first round itself, all five judges unanimously ruled in favour of the witness. In the second round too, Sakshi took a 4-1 lead. England's Ruby White tried hard to make a comeback, but proved helpless against Sakshi's accurate counter-punch and strong defence. Even in the third and final round, Sakshi retained control of the match and eventually clinched the gold medal with a one-sided victory by a score of 5-0

family and fans celebrate in Bhiwani

As soon as the news of

Sakshi Chaudhary winning the gold medal was received, there was an atmosphere of celebration at her home in Bhiwani, Haryana. Sakshi's family members celebrated the historic achievement by distributing sweets and beating drums among the people in the vicinity. Sakshi's mother Sheela expressed pride in her daughter's achievement and got emotional and said, "Today we are all very happy, her coach has supported her a lot throughout the journey."

'Super Saturday' for Indian boxers

Saturday was a historic day for Indian boxers in the Commonwealth Games. Apart from Sakshi, other players also performed brilliantly:

Jasmine Lamboria: Defending world champion Jasmine won the gold medal in the women's 57kg category by defeating defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland 5-0 in the final.

Preeti Pawar: In the women's 54kg event, Preeti Pawar also defeated Canada's Scarlett Delgado 5-0 to win the gold medal for the country.

Jadumani Singh: Men's boxer Jadumani Singh also put up a brilliant fight, though she had to settle for a silver medal.
