Vadodara, Nov 12 (IANS) The condition of the Mahi River near Kotana village near Vadodara is deteriorating due to which there is a demand to cancel the permission of three leases given by the Mines Department near the beach.
It may be recalled that recently, after the Mines and Minerals Department approved a block of sand on the banks of the Mahi river on the outskirts of Kotna village, the GPCB held a public hearing in the village for environmental clearance. Due to this, the public hearing scheduled for the next day had to be postponed.
Illegal sand mining is still going on by some elements even though illegal sand mining was caught by boats landing in the Mahi river near Kotna beach.
