Supreme Court SIR Hearing: The controversy over the voter list has intensified ahead of the upcoming polls in West Bengal on April 23 and 29. The Supreme Court on Monday made it clear that those whose names have been removed from the list cannot be allowed to cast their votes immediately. During the hearing of the petition, Chief Justice Surya Kant remarked that the electoral process cannot be jeopardised by increasing the burden of thousands of cases on the appellate tribunal. Those whose names have been tampered with in the SIR process and whose appeals are still pending before the Tribunal cannot be allowed to vote as an interim relief.
If a voter's name has been deleted for some reason and is added again, he/she will be able to vote
