'We are your boss, you are our slave': Dr Dixita used to ragging the most in Surat Civil; Packed perfumes and scissors and two letters on the deceased's table shrouded the mystery of the suicide

SURAT: Four senior resident doctors have been suspended for six months and four faculty have been issued show-cause notices on the basis of the preliminary report and investigation of the anti-ragging committee in the suicide case of 30-year-old resident doctor Harsh Pandya at the hostel of Surat New Civil Hospital. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Dr Dixita Ghewaria used to do most of the ragging activities. The mystery of the suicide has been shrouded in two letters found in a packed perfume, scissors and a brown envelope on the table in the deceased's room. A complaint has been registered against the four doctors at Khatodara police station in this regard. The complaint was filed by Girish Patel of the Civil Administration Department. A case has been registered against Dixita Ghewaria, Hina Bhoot and Nirali Vasave under sections including unlawful detention, intimidation, mental torture, abusive language and helping each other. According to the police complaint, the seniors used to make false representations to the professors of the department that "first-year resident doctors do not do any work" in order to demoralize the juniors and also to put pressure on the professors. Show-cause notice to 4 faculty 1 Dr. Sumaiya Mulla: Dr. Harsha was openly ragging but did not take any action as a HOD and showed negligence. 2. Dean of Surat Civil Medical College, Dr. Jayesh Brahmbhatt said that the organisation has also submitted a first information report on the incident at Khatodara police station within the stipulated time. An FIR will be filed by appointing the administrative officer of the institution as a complainant in this matter and further investigation process will be carried out by the police. Bond of Rs 40 lakh and 4 suicides in 7 years The deceased Dr. Harsh Pandya was calm and civilized. After completing his MBBS from the Philippines, he passed NEET PG and took admission in microbiology. A day before he committed suicide, he had told a fellow doctor that he would have left the department long ago if he had not paid a bond of Rs 40 lakh. As per the government rules, there was a fine of Rs 40 lakh for dropping out of PG.
