Use of ERT system: Survey started to check the strength of the 135-year-old Ajwa Lake, which supplies water to Vadodara

Inspection of the strength of the Ajwa Sarovar Dam, which is made of 135-year-old earthen pots supplying water to the city, and the ERT system of the lake's padas has been started. The survey started with electrical residency (ERT) system at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore under Vishwamitri project will be completed in the next three months. Additional City Engineer and Executive Engineer of Water Supply Department Dharmik Dave said that the "Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT)" method is being used in this survey of Ajwa Lake made of 135-year-old earthen pots. He further said that the work of this survey has been started from June 20. The survey will be completed within the next about three months. After this, the report of the lake's pada and dam will be released in 20 days. It is worth mentioning that the burden on The Ajwa Dam has increased many times in the time of extreme rainfall, in which it has become important to re-check its capacity, foundation and soil erosion. Is there a leakage from inside the dam to maintain security? The municipality is now working to find out. What is ERT? Electrical resistivity tomography is a scientific method. In which electric currents are released at different levels in the ground and by measuring the recessivity of the ground , it can be known what is inside its structure. Is there different phases of soil or stone, wet spaces, leakages or not by this method? It is worth noting that this method is proving to be very useful for dam safety across the world.
