Farmers to hold massive tractor rally in Gandhinagar on June 15: Lalji Desai - Govt will know that everyone is being deceived, not farmers and cattle rearers; Protests against power companies in Tankara

An important meeting of farmers was held in the presence of leaders of Gujarat Kisan Sangharsh Samiti and Gujarat Kisan Congress at Jabalpur village in Tankara taluka of Morbi district. There is anger among the farmers as there is no clarity on the compensation given to the farmers for the heavy power line and its poles being laid by the private company. In the meeting, the farmers threatened that no man from the company would be allowed to enter the field without giving adequate compensation. On June 15, farmers will hold a huge tractor rally in Gandhinagar. Lalji Desai had said that the government will know that everyone should be deceived, but not the farmers and cattle rearers. The police drag away those they want to protect Lalji Desai, president of Gujarat Kisan Seva Dal, said, "When our daughters, youth, farmers and the elderly plead to save their farms, cry and are dragged away by the police, a big question arises. The police uniform, cap, shoes and bread of the house come from the sweat of farmers, agricultural labourers, cattle herders and the general public, the same police today instead of protecting the public are eating and only flattering the industrialists. The government must bow down, the people are supreme in a democracy The biggest question is whether the government will comply. "We believe very clearly that the government has to bow down because in a democracy, the people are ultimately supreme," Desai said. Earlier, the Mandal-Becharaji SIR (Special Investment Region) movement also won by the people and the government had to bow down. The government will have to bow down in this fight too. When thousands of tractors take to the streets on June 15, the government will realise that it has to play with everyone, but not with farmers and cattle rearers. Companies are not giving proper compensation Local farmer leader Jitu Patel said, "If you look at this, a large number of farmers and women from twenty villages of Tankara taluka including Savdi, Saraya, Tankara, Tol and Amrapar have come to the event today. Companies lay heavy power lines in farmers' fields but do not pay them properly. Today, we have to agitate against the government, the system and the company because the system and the government are supporting the company instead of supporting the farmers. There is no one to take the side of the farmers, that is why today it is our turn to agitate. Work stopped for 4 months, farmers from 20 villages gather Heavy transmission lines of different private power companies are passing through 5 talukas of Morbi district. Under this, the light transmission line will go from Wankaner to Jamnagar via Tankara. Notices were issued to farmers in Wankaner and Tankara talukas for this operation but no announcement was made on compensation. Proposal to work without clarity on compensation issue The farmers had earlier staged a tractor rally to protest against the company's decision to start work without any explanation of compensation, due to which the work of the private company has been stopped for the last 4 months. Farmers and women from around 20 villages, including Savadi, Saraya, Otala, Jabalpur and Tankara, gathered in large numbers in Jabalpur village to chalk out a strategy against the alleged dictatorship of power companies. Tractor rally to be held in Gandhinagar on June 15 The farmer leaders expressed their anger and said that no work will be allowed in the fields until the farmers get proper and adequate compensation. Apart from this, a huge tractor rally of farmers has been organized at Gandhinagar on June 15. The leaders have called for more and more farmers from Tankara taluka to reach Gandhinagar with their tractors. Leaders present at the meeting The meeting was attended by Pal Ambalia, Lalji Desai, Mahesh Rajkotia, Manoj Panara, Mukesh Gami, K.D. Local farmer leaders including Padasumbia, Satish Merja and a large number of villagers were present.
