The condition of the nearly 200-year-old birthplace of revolutionary Shyamji Krishna Varma in Mandvi city has become worrisome. It is surprising that this historic Government building is in a dilapidated condition but does not get adequate government assistance for its proper repair and maintenance. T.A. On the occasion of his 96th death anniversary on March 30, a wreath was paid here to commemorate his life and contributions, but the condition of the venue remained the same after the event. According to the local level, the cost of maintaining the building is estimated to be around one and a half to two lakh rupees per annum, but no funds are allocated by the government. As a result, the members of "Shyamji Krishna Varma Memorial Foundation" are managing the organization by raising funds at their own level. The building was repaired by GMDC earlier but no work has been carried out since then. The team had visited the site from Gandhinagar a year ago
About a year ago, a team of engineers from Gandhinagar visited the site and there was a discussion about developing the birthplace in a new way, but no work has started till date. Nowadays this place has been developed as "Shyamji Krishna Varma Memorial", where his life events and documents related to the freedom movement have been exhibited. Many tourists and students visit here every year. There is a demand from the administration at the local level to ensure proper protection and development of this historic birthplace of the great revolutionary of the country.
