The United States and Iran made proposals to each other to stop Iran's nuclear activities at a meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan. According to a report in the New York Times, Iran has offered to halt its nuclear program for 5 years. However, the US has not accepted this and has insisted on demanding a 20-year moratorium. On the other hand, US President Donald Trump has started a maritime blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. The decision came into effect from 7:30 pm (10 am US time) on Monday. Trump has warned that if any Iranian ship comes close to the US blockade, it will be destroyed immediately. For this, the same method will be used to intercept the ships of drug traffickers at sea, i.e. with speed and rigor. Under this decision, any ship that tries to pass through Hormuz will be stopped and checked. Especially those ships that have paid tolls to Iran will be monitored.
